Manufacturing Stats Continue to Rise

According to a January 2014 report released by The Institute for Supply Management (ISM), from June 2013 through December 2013, increases in activity continued in the manufacturing industry. Further, ISM reports, "over-all" continued economic growth for 55 months straight. This is positive, despite a slight dip in December 2013, 57 percent, from November 2013, 57.3 percent.

Apple Moving Mac Production Back to U.S.A.

Apple Inc. made headlines in December 2013, when ABC News reported that the company is planning to move its Mac computer production back to the United States, at least, part of it anyway. More users are finding “assembled in the USA” tags on their iMacs now than in the past. However, these tags are still relatively few in number when compared to the amount of “assembled in China” tags.

Motorola s New Phone: Moto X Made in America

Motorola is leading the charge to bring manufacturing back to American soil. According to The Verge, to accomplish this task, Motorola has recently re-opened the old Nokia factory in Texas. It is Motorola's intent to complete the final touches in the manufacturing of their Motorola X line in the United States, and possibly, bring the manufacturing of its other parts to the factory in the near future

Gree Recalls 12 Brands of Dehumidifiers

On September 12, 2013, Gree, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, announced a recall on dehumidifiers manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances of China and were sold from January 2005 through August 2013. The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke and catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
