Since 1815, when our first stoneware pieces were crafted and sold, the Louisville Stoneware Art Factory has maintained an uncompromising dedication to quality, community and environmental sustainability. Today we continue to use centuries-old ceramics techniques to create products that are responsible and stand up to years or even a lifetime of service.
Natural stoneware clay up to 250 million years old is harvested from deposits in Kentucky and Indiana. Once the clay is brought in from the mines, the process of creating functional art begins at our studios in Louisville, Kentucky. From these raw beginnings to an exquisite finish, no fewer than twenty pairs of artisan hands touch each piece.
